eSOL Offers PictBridge for TI's Imaging Processor

-- Support for latest standard for connecting digital cameras to printers regardless of brands--

Portland, Oregon - Sept. 26, 2005 - eSOL, a proven developer of real-time embedded software solutions, today announced that PictDirect, PictBridge-compatible application software, is now available for TMS320DM320 ("DM320") from Texas Instruments.

PictDirect is a software module that is fully compliant with the PictBridge specification from the Camera and Imaging Products Association (CIPA). PictDirect enables portable devices such as digital still cameras and photo viewers to print pictures directly to PictBridge-compliant printers. PictDirect has been designed so that it easily interfaces with RTOS, file system and USB services through modular wrapper code, making it adaptable for use with off-the-shelf or proprietary RTOS suites.

In this release for DM320, PictDirect has been preconfigured to work with PrKERNELv4, PrFILE and PrUSB and works with TI's standard DM320 evaluation board. PictDirect has been used in many digital consumer devices from digital cameras to multimedia mobile phones and millions of PictDirect-enabled devices are sold in the market today.

The popularity of digital still cameras has enabled consumers to use and enjoy digital imaging technology. However, it is not always easy for the general consumer to obtain prints from their DSC. There are some examples of camera to printer direct-connect solutions on the market, but these are limited to only a few specific models of DSCs and printers. In addition, most of these solutions are limited to working with only a few models from a single manufacturer, and these proprietary solutions lack the potential level of availability that can come with a standards-based solution. PictBridge is the first standard to enable direct printing from any PictBridge-compliant DSC to any PictBridge-compliant printer, regardless of manufacturer.

The company also announced that it is currently porting PictDirect to the TMS320DM275 application processor for multimedia cellular phones. The official release is expected in November this year.

Pricing and Availability

PictDirect for DM320 is now available as a binary library starting at $35,000.
