eSOL Releases Multitasking Kernel and FAT File System for TI's Latest Portable Audio Processor

-- Seamless integration with TI's Reference Design gives OEMs competitive edge in portable audio market --

Portland, Oregon - October 10, 2005 - eSOL, a proven developer of real-time embedded software solutions, today announced that its leading multitasking kernel, PrKERNELv4®, and FAT-compatible file system, PrFILE®, are now available for the TMS320DA295, the latest audio processor from Texas Instruments (TI).

PrKERNELv4 is a compact preemptive kernel suited for real-time embedded applications and offers a rich set of more than 120 system calls. PrFILE provides your application with a Windows-compatible FAT file system. Both PrKERNELv4 and PrFILE are integrated into TI's production-ready portable audio application reference design for MP3 players and portable audio jukeboxes.

The reference design along with eSOL's software will help manufacturers efficiently manage cost and development time, allowing for more bandwidth to incorporate new features, such as rich user interfaces, gaming, and video playback. The combination of production-ready software and hardware allows products to be brought to market within as few as three months (see www.ti.com/portableaudio7).

eSOL's unique support for the DA295 is the first and only commercially available RTOS suite that fully supports the reference design from TI.

"We are very pleased to offer OEMs and ODMs with a truly integrated RTOS suite for this very competitive portable audio market," said Tomoyuki Uda, managing director at eSOL, Inc. "From the customer's perspective, a real one-stop solution is important not only for complete and robust software, but also for how it is integrated and offered with the production-ready reference design. Our partnership with TI accelerates time to market to help OEMs/ODMs compete by rolling out their products quickly."

"By combining our DSP expertise in the audio field with RTOS leadership from eSOL, we are able to provide excellent power efficiency and the advanced features manufacturers need to differentiate their products," said Chris Schairbaum, manager of TI's Portable Audio and Infotainment business. "Our reference design, combined with a new suite of development tools fully integrated with eSOL's very efficient software brings our customers to market faster."

eSOL also announced that it is currently developing a Kernel Object Viewer (KOV) module for PrKERNELv4. The KOV provides kernel object awareness for Texas Instruments' Code Composer Studio™ Integrated Development Environment (IDE). The KOV provides a detailed snapshot of kernel information including the current status of kernel internal structures, tasks, flags, mailboxes, and other kernel objects. The official release is expected in the fourth quarter of this year.
